This one gets it!
I ran across this story about an under 30-something who figured out that advance directives are probably a good idea even for younger folks. It’s the sort of thing that just rings my bell because I have been appalled way too often at having to witness agonizing decisions being made under enormous pressure even in cases when the parties involved were unquestionably old enough to have known better.
The author notes: “Even though 60 is still far away, I’ve realized there’s nothing worse than being in a situation you absolutely could’ve prepared for and didn’t. Life can go in any direction it wants to take you. I wouldn’t want to suffer from the consequences of my own lack of preparation… It’s better to be prepared and underwhelmed than unprepared and overwhelmed.”
Mighty wise words from a young woman. I wish more folks would pay attention.
